Today, the pain is mine, only because I inadvertently saved an older post on my laptop that overwrote the post I published yesterday (dated 7/10-7/12) from my desktop. F*cking technology. And using the site history doesn't include restoring previously saved blogs, so basically a (mostly) useless feature- thanks Wix for nuttin'. The other irritating thing I've discovered is that if any of you nice people want to leave a comment, you have to become a member/be a member, and log-in. A pain in the ass, I know, and most of you won't bother, which I get. So I'm assessing the situation and debating whether to change platforms, because, you know, I don't have anything else to do. WTF...
So while I have you all here; for those of you who read my post yesterday, you know we were going to start a new chemo regimen next Tuesday, with a drug called "Vinorelbine", which I have been calling "Vanillabean". A lot has happened since yesterday; Tagrisso, another drug that we wanted to get Abby on first, has been denied twice now, because, well just because the insurance company is good at things, one of them being is in denial. But the good news is, that I believe we will get it approved in the next couple of days, and that our good friend Nila, who is also on Tagrisso, sent me to the drug manufacturer's website where you can request a free, 15-day supply while you await insurance approval. Sounds simple, but since I've been on the phone, faxing, and filling out forms since 8am, I can't confirm the simplicity theory.
The long and short of it is, we are going to cancel the Vanillabean chemo regimen next week, and should hopefully start on Tagrisso by mid-next week. If Tagrisso falls through, we can always start on Vanillabean the following week, but I've been assured by several peeps it should all move forward. And Tagrisso is once a day; a tablet I can crush and dissolve and put through her G-tube, and the side effects are "tolerable"(easy for me to say). If Tagrisso doesn't work, then we can try good 'ole Vanillabean.
I'm sorry about yesterday's post if you didn't get a chance to read it- it's now off in the cloud of cyberspace, no doubt with many other lost soul posts and stories that technology has had its way with. In the meantime, we will keep you informed on how we make out on the drug war.
Much love and confusion,
Abby, Craig, Ben and Aliza

That sounds great good progress! Love all of you!
